At the end of the day most of us just want to be happy. It’s just that sometimes we get side-tracked by the constant demands on our time and energy that seems to suck the life right out of us.
That’s why I thought I’d share some of my secrets to meditation for happiness. It may sound a little crazy that something as simple as meditation could bring more happiness into our lives but sometimes it’s doing something different than what we’d normally do that makes all the difference.
Are There Happiness Meditation Techniques?
I have found that the best meditation techniques for bringing more happiness into my life are the ones that I love doing the most. Not all meditations are created equal, but those that help you to get out of your head so that the mind goes quiet and the body relaxes automatically bring more happiness.
Since meditating for over 20 years I have found that happiness to me now is more about having peace of mind and a consistent experience of calmness that I carry with me throughout the day. Sure I also laugh, play and have fun which is also happiness, but meditation has taught me that there is an even deeper joy that we can access when we sit quietly and still the mind.
What About Happiness Meditation Music?
From guided meditations that use mood music to help you relax and feel happy, to powerful endorphin releasing music, different sounds can certainly help to make it easier for you to feel happy and joyful. It’s not always the music that does the work though. Sometimes you have to move your body as well.
That’s why dancing like no-one is watching to your favorite tunes can turn any frown upside down and put you in a good frame of mind. Why? Because you just allowed yourself to get happy by doing something fun and enjoyable. Some people tend to spend a great deal of time being so serious in their lives that they forget to take time-out to let-go and be a little crazy for a bit.
It takes a lot of mental energy to maintain a serious and tense attitude in life, that’s why music is such a powerful tool used by so many meditation teachers and students alike. It breaks through the barriers of the mind like a knife cuts through warm butter – with ease and grace.
