How To Use Mindfulness Meditation For Pain Relief

Mindfulness Meditation For Pain Relief PostToday you’ll learn more about how to use mindfulness meditation for pain relief.

If you would like to know more about what you can do  to find more ways to use mindfulness meditation to reduce stress or pain in your life, then this will help (it’ll even help you understand how it works).

How Does Mindfulness Pain Management Work?

To answer this question we need to first look at the different types of pain that most of us experience. There’s the pain of stress and anxiety; The pain of loss and grief; And of course physical pain that results from injury or illness. Regardless of what type of pain we experience the result is always the same – physical and emotional suffering.

It’s safe to say that none of us really want to live in pain. While there may be a case to be said for those who seem to be addicted to pain, they appear to be the exception, rather than the rule. I’ve always lived by the motto that prevention is better than cure, but I’m also a realist in I know that despite our best efforts, pain can and will weave it’s way into our lives in it’s own timing.

It’s never a good time for us to have pain, nor is it ever convenient. That’s why I decided to share some of the different ways that I have found mindfulness and meditation to not only help ease pain, but to help us to enjoy new levels of freedom to live with more ease and quality of life.

The way mindfulness pain management works is that it helps with our ability to focus our mind in a different way that allows us to worry less. By worrying less about things, it reduces anxiety and stress levels, which helps reduce the levels of pain we experience.

The best way to describe how this works is that it’s a little like turning down the pain volume in our head and emotions.  In a sense this happens because being mindful teaches us to step back from our thoughts and feelings which gives us a little distance from them. Over-time, as we get better at doing this, we can be aware of painful thoughts and feelings but don’t have any attachment to them.

When this happens, then we have a new level of freedom to enjoy a much different quality of life. In the meditation video below I’ll step you through a simple breathing space meditation to help get you started on the pain to have less pain and more ease in your life.

How did you go? I hope that this ancient meditation technique that has been used for centuries to help reduce pain just by using the power of the mind and focus was helpful for you. By mindfully exploring the sensations of pain in the body you’ll notice that something very remarkable starts to happen.

This technique works through the power of focusing the mind to the point where both the awareness of the mind and body can totally disappear. When that happens, then the power of now is free to do it’s healing work of it’s own accord.
