A Guide To Meditation And Health
In today’s post I’ll be sharing the beginners guide to meditation and health from the perspective of someone that’s enjoyed more than 15 years of amazing health and vitality since I began meditating.
Now this may sound like a bold claim to some, but I’m not here to convince anyone of anything. For some of you what I’ll share in the video below about how meditation and mindfulness has opened my mind and life to a happier, healthier and more enjoyable life, will make a lot of sense. For others, perhaps not.
Meditation Health Benefits: Real or Imagined?
Firstly, let me say that for me meditation is more a preventative tool, than a cure. I believe that while meditation can help us to handle stress better and be more relaxed and in control of our mind and body, once an illness or pain takes a hold of the body, it’s time for something more mainstream. Now that can be to go to your local GP, or to seek out a natural therapist. Again, it really depends on what’s wrong.
There’s also a case to be made for the ‘placebo’ affect whereby people who believe that meditation will help them to feel better – will. But this is more to do with their belief about it, rather than the meditation itself. Our mind is a very powerful tool and we can imagine ourselves into all sorts of scenarios in life, both good and bad.
People who imagine that there future will be bleak and who spend hours, days, weeks and even years worrying about things that may never happen will ultimately turn their fears into reality, or at the very least live a very miserable existence.
The best way to even know if something is going to be of benefit for you personally is to experience it for yourself. I actually started out meditating as a total skeptic. I never imagined that meditation could do anything more for me than waste my time and be ‘uncool’.
However, because I had friends that were doing it and they raved about it, I was willing to give it a go to see what all the fuss was about. And I’m so glad I did. It not only opened my mind and heart to a different way of thinking and enjoying life, but it also helped me to find and live my life’s purpose, for which I am eternally grateful.
Tips on Meditation for Health and Healing Video
How did you go? I hope that these tips on meditation for health and healing got you to thinking just what an amazing tool meditation is to enjoy a better quality of life just by spending a few minutes each day resting the mind. Good health both of mind and body is essential to enjoying our lives and without it, life pretty much sucks.
That’s why it’s better to live a life of prevention rather than cure because why wait until your mind or body breaks down until you do something about it. It’s always 10 times harder to get back our health, than it is to keep it, so it makes sense to make it a priority each day.
Meditation is by far one of the simplest ways to not only reduce stress and tension in our lives, but to help us become more resistant to it as well. Take the time to learn to meditate and make it part of your daily routines. You’ll be so glad you did.
