7 Reasons Why Meditation In The Morning Is Good For You
There usually two ways that most people start their day. The first is when you feel rushed and the second is when you feel calm.
Once we get into the habit of rushing around from the moment we wake up, it can easily become something that we get used to even if we don’t enjoy it. Once that happens, then we get stuck in an endless cycle of stress that starts from the moment we wake up until the moment we collapse in bed.
Even after a having good nights sleep we can still find ourselves getting caught up in thinking about all the things we have pending on our to-do list, which can turn up the stress volume in our mind and body from the get-go.
However, there is an alternative. Just by taking the time to do a 5, 10, or 20-minute meditation as soon as you wake up, it helps you to feel more centered. By focusing on being present when you first get up it enables your mind and body to come into alignment. This means you get instantly juiced up for the day ahead.
While you’ve probably already heard about the scientifically researched benefits of how meditation can have a positive impact on stress, focus, creativity. and even your relationships, here are 7 more reasons why meditation in the morning is a great idea.
1. You will start the day in a balanced state.
The mind likes to switch back and forward between the past and the future. While this is perfectly natural it has a price and the price is that all our thoughts have an energy attached to them. If the energy is positive, then all is good but if it’s not, then that’s when you can find yourself feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, worried, or even drained. By doing a simple 5-minute mindfulness meditation first thing in the morning you’ll be able to stop the mind from wandering and instead be free to enjoy the gift of being present.
2. Your happiness factor will be significantly higher.
Happiness is something that all of us would like more of, wouldn’t you agree? Funnily enough, we can have more happiness anytime we want. All that’s required is to get out of your head for a few minutes so that the mind can slow down and the body can relax. Happiness always happens when we have peace of mind because when we are in a peaceful and relaxed state, then we automatically feel happy with our lives. Meditation is the simplest way to clear the mind and allow happiness to be present in your life.
3. Your libido will go up.
Scientific research has shown that meditation can help with increasing your libido. The way it works is that when you meditate it helps free your sexual energy because the mind is not as absorbed in all the usual pressures and tensions of the daily grind. It makes perfect sense when you think about it because it’s so easy to get distracted in our everyday lives, and when we get constantly distracted, then it’s more than likely that our stress levels will rise. Meditation helps us to refocus the mind and keep our stress levels at bay.
4. You will feel like you have more time.
There’s an old saying that, ‘time is relevant to the intensity of the moment’. If you think about it this makes a lot of sense. I know that for me when I am having fun and enjoying myself, time seems to flash by, and when I’m not enjoying myself, time seems to drag. Meditation helps to slow down the mind which results in an increased sense of calm and inner peace. The longer and more frequently you meditate, the more heightened this sense of calm gets. It is this sense of calmness that helps you to feel like you have all the time in the world, regardless of what’s going on around you, or how big your to-do list is.
5. Your moods will feel lighter.
When you start the day out by doing mindfulness meditation it helps to shape your mood for the day by sending a flood of happy hormones throughout your body. Then you get to carry this energy with you into the day ahead. Anytime that you feel your mood spiraling downwards just take a few minutes to still the mind and be present. Then, you’ll instantly feel uplifted and ready to take on the world again.
6. Your relationships will feel more connected.
Meditation helps you to be more empathetic towards others because it boosts your compassion levels. An increase in compassion makes it easier for you to be more accepting of yourself and others. This means it’s easier for you to connect with others and easier for them to connect with you. It’s also especially beneficial in enhancing the closeness you feel with your partner which can lead to a deeper sense of intimacy and even more enjoyable sex.
7. You will be more likely to develop healthy habits.
Just be getting into the habit of meditating in the morning, you’ll already be developing a habit that will improve your overall health, happiness, and quality of life. While that’s a huge win in itself, once you’ve been meditating for about 30 days in a row, then developing any habit you like will be a breeze. It’s well known that one of the quickest ways to transform any area of your life is to change your habits. Whether you want to get fitter, make more money, write a book, start a business, or anything at all, meditation will free up your mind to make it even easier.
