3 Meditation And Success Secrets Revealed

3 Meditation And Success Secrets Revealed PostWhat could meditation and success possibly have to do with each other? Is it even possible for meditation to have an impact on our success in business or life, or is that just an urban myth?

Success means different things to different people so there’s really no one-size fits all. But for the sake of this discussion let’s assume that success is a feeling you get when you have a sense of accomplishment or progress in whatever you choose to invest your energy in.

3 Meditation Tips For Success

We all  know there’s pretty much no such thing as overnight success, save for the few lucky people that win lotto or some such. For the majority of people success in any area of life be it to lose weight, get a promotion, move into your dream home or anything at all of significance is a step-by-step process.

In between these success steps there are usually some mistakes made and failures happen, which is all part of the journey. One of the things that helps to keep us on track for success is having the ability to stay focused on where we are headed rather than allowing ourselves to lose focus and be pulled in too many directions.

Here’s some meditation tips for success to help improve focus and stay on track for what’s important.

1. Define what success means to you

We talked about this a moment ago but it really is important for you to take a moment to consider what success means to you. Most of us are raised in societies that teaches us that success is good and failure is bad. The best example of this is our education system where we are shown that winners are rewarded and losers get to feel bad.

What this model of success fails to teach us is that we are all winners no matter whether we come first, second, or last in any undertaking. The purpose of doing anything is the journey, not the destination. We are shaped by the things we do, not the results we get.

At any point in our life if we don’t like the results we are getting, then it’s up to us to change them. If we give away our power to others to be responsible for our success or failures, then the problem isn’t to do with success, it’s to do with our self-awareness. The more self-aware we become, the healthier our self-image will be.

So what is your definition of success as it applies to you? Are you a born winner in your own mind? If not, then write down as many things about you and your life that you can think of that you have already succeeded in. Start with the fact that you beat 1 million other sperm to be born and then come up with a list of at least 101 things. I guarantee by the time you complete this list, you will have a new way of looking at yourself.

2. Set an intention for your meditation

The concept of setting an intention for anything is not new. In fact, if you think about anything in your life that you’ve ever really wanted and attained, you would of at one stage had a strong intention towards it. Meditation is no different. All you need to do is think about something that you’d like to have more of in your life and set that as your intention for your meditation.

Does this mean it’ll happen right away. Probably not. Like most things in life, it’s usually the process of ‘intention + action’ that gets results. But here’s the interesting part. Meditation helps to put your brain into a different state – a state of higher functioning for want of a better term.

In this state, the power of your mind is amplified so that whatever you focus on goes much deeper into your subconscious than if you were just thinking about it in your usual waking state. The deeper our intentions move into our subconscious the faster and more likely they are to appear.

That’s why so many people find it hard to quit things that they know are not good for them. It’s because they have deeply rooted thought and emotion patterns that are etched into their subconscious mind. When they try to make a change using just the conscious mind, then it may work for a short while, but the subconscious habit soon takes hold again.

Your intention can be as simple as having a happy and peaceful day, or making a major life change like changing your job, or finding your perfect mate. If your intention is something relatively simple, then change it as often as you like. But if it’s something a bit more complex or major, then stick with it until it becomes a reality.

3. Become more focused in your life

I went to a seminar last night where the speaker was talking about how time-management is now a thing of the past because of the constant distractions that technology brings to both home and work. The part that really resonated with me was when he mentioned that the new skill set that was in huge demand in business and in life was focus management.

Without the skill of being able to focus on one thing at time until it’s completed, then success is going to be 10x harder to achieve in any area of business or life.  So how do we go about improving our focus? There’s a really simple meditation technique that can help with this. It’s called the Candle Gazing Meditation.

Here’s how it work.

Step 1. light a candle and sit it in front of you so that it’s at about eye level. Make sure that you are seated in a comfortable position on the floor or in a chair.

Step 2. Gaze softly at the candle flame for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Your eyes may water a little at first but this is perfectly normal and usually stops quickly. If you find that your mind wanders don’t judge it, simply bring your attention back to gazing softly at the candle flame.

Step 3. Close your eyes at the end of the meditation and sit quietly for a few moments.

The power of this technique is that it trains your mind to stay focused on one object for whatever length of time you choose. I sometimes do this meditation for up to an hour as it gets easier the longer you do it. Once you can stay focused on the candle flame for around 20 minutes or more your it will be so much easier to stay focused on tasks or anything you like.

There are many other benefits from doing this meditation technique as well such as a strong sense of calm, the mind becomes very clear and focused, and you may even find that your creativity starts to flourish.

Meditation And Success Is For Everyone

If it still sounds a little odd that meditation can bring more success into your life then I encourage you to try it our for yourself over the next 7 days. Meditation really is one of the few things in the world we can do anytime and anywhere once you know how. If you find that meditation isn’t working for you then keep trying different techniques until you find the one that works for you.
